YARA January 2024 Newsletter

Afternoon Get-together

We had our first afternoon get-together of the year on January 18th in Bru na Si, and over 85 members attended.
We all enjoyed the home-made cakes – made by our volunteers – and the opportunity for friends to catch up on all the latest news and activities.
Dr Mathews gave a talk on trips and falls – and the precautions you can take to prevent these events happening, particularly in the older generation.

Cinema Morning

Our January cinema morning in the Regal Cinema was a screening of Ferrari, and we had a large turnout for this film.

The Year of the Hiker

Many of our members turned out on the cold nights to enjoy this classic John B Keane play, produced by Youghal Little Theatre in the Mall Arts Centre last week.
It was great that this local event was so well supported. We look forward to more events throughout the year.

January Exercise Classes

Our Pilates and T’ai Chi classes started back in January, and we had a big attendance for both events.
Many thanks to Anne Marie and Marguerite for accommodating such large groups.
Also, well done to our Tuesday morning beach walkers who, despite the recent cold spell, braved the elements to have the weekly walk.
